Kenneth Slaught is the founder and active president of Investec Real Estate Companies. Since 1983, he has grown Investec into the largest real estate development and management firm in Santa Barbara County, acquiring more than three million square feet of apartment, office, retail, and self-storage properties along California’s coastline. Currently employing forty individuals, the company handles more than $1 billion in assets, is accredited by the Institute of Real Estate Management, and is a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
As President of Investec, Kenny Slaught’s visionary guidance played a major role establishing the firm’s investment strategies and policies, determining asset class allocations, and making key business decisions. Despite times of highly varying financial markets, the firm has generated lucrative opportunities, leading to Investec’s impeccable reputation in the property investment community.
Slaught earned a degree in business and economics from the University of California Santa Barbara in 1979, in addition to a certification from the California Contractors State License Board, and a California real estate broker’s license also obtained in 1979. Prior to forming Investec, he served as a founding partner of the MKS Companies, a real estate development, property management, and mortgage brokerage firm.
In addition to his business endeavors, Slaught is passionate about bettering his community, with work in leadership positions at numerous Southern California’s nonprofit organizations. Currently, he is an active board member of the UCSB Foundation; and formerly served on the board of the Santa Barbara Hospice Foundation; and Slaught is a substantial supporter to the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, as well as many local high schools.
