More than 150 real estate companies were developed through crowdfunding over the past years. In US, the number of accredited investors reaches 7% of the population. In Southern California, 20% of individuals are investors. The process was made easy by sites like CrowdEngine, RealtyShares, and CrowdForce that allowed public donations. In some cases, 90% of equity requirement was obtained through such contributions. Owners are also able to better manage and access their portfolios with data analytics apps like Rentlytics. Kenny Slaught, real estate with 35 years of experience, believes that California is a strong market presence. Borrowers and lenders were able to raise over $53 million from properties in Sacramento, San Francisco, and the Bay Area. All this came as a result from the use of modern technology to pool capital.
